Choosing a UPS
Choosing the right uninterruptible power  supply for your application will depend upon the type and size of load that needs to be protected, the type and size of application and the operating environment in which the UPS will be housed. It also depends upon the criticality of load and need for redundancy and resilience.
Some of the key questions to ask are:
- Cost v redundancy - the more redundancy that is built into the UPS system, the higher the cost, but greater overall system availability will also be achieved.
- What is my approximate load size in kVA?
- What electrical problems, if any, will my load present to a UPS?
- What are my priorities for protecting the load? How do I want to balance budgetary and space considerations against the criticality of the operational load, and flexibility for future growth?
